Editorial context
Working with a provider in San Diego – what matters
When choosing a property manager in San Diego, the first step is to check whether the provider’s documented focus matches the property. Fairgrove describes managing apartment properties across Southern California. This does not automatically establish that it handles every other property type or offers all forms of homeowners association management. Owners should therefore confirm the property type, location and required scope of services.
For rental apartment properties, clear operational responsibilities matter. Before appointing a manager, it is useful to establish named contacts, backup arrangements and procedures for reporting repairs. Spending approval thresholds, contractor engagement and documentation of completed work also deserve attention. Since Fairgrove identifies technology as part of its approach, prospective clients should ask which applications are actually used and what information owners and residents can access.
Fees and reporting should be assessed against a specific proposal: which tasks are included, which incur additional charges, and how frequently do owners receive financial statements or status reports? The supplied website extract does not answer these questions in detail.
For prospective tenants, confirmed viewing appointments, clearly explained application steps and written information about fees are particularly useful. The selected reviews mention both effective repairs and communication difficulties. They provide topics for follow-up questions but do not replace checking the individual property and agreed procedures. These points are general guidance, not legal advice.

DO NOT RENT HERE! I wish I had taken time to read Fairgrove's reviews before signing a lease. This is the worst property management I have ever experienced. I think the newly renovated apartments and location tend to trick interested renters (it certainly tricked me) into signing a lease. Be warned- working with Fairgrove on any issue (maintenance or otherwise) is a nightmare. The only reason Fairgrove's rating sits anywhere above a 1/5 is because there is an occasional positive review left for a random building manager, which always follows a super negative review... Interesting. I should have known from the start when it took the current building manager over 6 weeks to send me a lease after I toured and said I was interested. This threw off my entire move timeline, which is a bigger deal than not when hunting for apartments in LA. After multiple reach out attempts, I gave up and dec
This company scammed me. They promised me the home if I put in our applications. Each application fee was $62 and we’re a family of 5. So I ended up paying $310 for application fees thinking they will give me the home. A few days later I got a email “ sorry the home is no longer available”. I called the office and the manager Marcie about what’s going on and all my calls and emails are being ignored. No one is responding back to me more than a week has gone by. All I want is fairgrove to reimburse my application fees but it’s impossible to get a hold of someone. They keep saying someone will call you back today but no one ever does. They charge $62 per application fee. They promise you the home and that you have a good chance of getting it. Once everyone puts their applications in they come up with excuses that it’s no longer available and that sorry the fees are not refundable. They’re
Absolutely terrible experience with this company. I scheduled viewings for two apartments, both supposedly ready and available. For the first one, I was given a lockbox code to pick up the keys, but the code didn’t work. I tried calling and texting multiple numbers—they didn’t respond at all. For the second apartment, I was given an address that doesn’t even exist. I spent the entire day trying to get in contact with someone—calling, texting, being transferred multiple times—and no one answered. If this is how they treat new interested tenants, I can only imagine how poorly they treat tenants who have already signed a lease. This company completely wasted my time and showed a shocking lack of professionalism and organization. I strongly advise anyone to avoid renting through them.
Thank you Carly for your help with my problem. You have been great, and understanding to my issues with my problems here at my apartment. Also, the maintenance man was very nice and assured me no job was to small.
My bedroom light stopped working abruptly and I contacted our property manager Yvette. I received same day service with the help of Diego and Michael. Michael showed up and assessed the situation. After several attempts he determined I needed a new fixture. He drove to Home Depot and got a new one, replaced the fixture and I was able to have light again. It was a smooth transaction. I’m very pleased with this team and their effectiveness to get the job done in a timely manner without disruption to my schedule.
