Editorial context
Working with a provider in Porto – what matters
When appointing a real estate agent in Porto, clients should first clarify which tasks the assignment covers and whose interests the agent represents in the transaction. This is particularly relevant where an agent represents the seller while also helping the buyer with practical arrangements, as one supplied review describes. Assistance with the process should not be equated with independent advice for the buyer.
For a property search, a written brief should set out the budget, preferred locations, intended use and requirements for condition and amenities. Since the displayed portfolio also includes Vila Nova de Gaia and Maia, the search area should be explicitly agreed. Buyers based abroad should discuss the possibilities and limitations of handling the process remotely, access to documents and coordination with other parties. Reviews describing such arrangements reflect individual experiences rather than binding service commitments.
Sellers should ask how the offered valuation is prepared and which marketing activities are planned. The scope, costs and responsibilities for home staging, viewing coordination and other additional services should be established in advance. Fees, the duration of the appointment and any exclusivity arrangements also warrant discussion.
The precise scope of the website’s stated support with legal and notarial documentation should be checked. An agent’s assistance does not replace independent legal or tax advice. For holiday or investment properties, ongoing costs and the requirements associated with the intended use should also be examined separately.

I cannot recommend Susana Lopez highly enough. Throughout my property purchase, Susana went far beyond what anyone could expect. Although she represented the seller—not me—she supported me every step of the way and genuinely cared about making sure everything was completed successfully. When unexpected issues arose, she took time away from her own clients and viewings to accompany me, coordinate with everyone involved, and find solutions. At times, I honestly felt she was doing more to protect my interests than the legal team I had hired myself. There are many real estate agents, but professionals who genuinely care, take ownership, and go above and beyond for people are rare. Susana is one of those rare professionals. I had travelled all the way to Portugal solely to complete this purchase, and Susana understood how important it was that I didn't leave without signing the deed. Her
I had a very positive experience working with Suzana. She was professional, responsive, and very supportive throughout the entire process of finding and securing a rental property in Braga. As an international client, I truly appreciated her patience, transparency, and clear communication at every step. She made the process much easier and helped me feel confident in my decisions. I highly recommend Suzana to anyone looking for a reliable and dedicated real estate professional in Portugal
Susana is a kind, patient, wonderful person and an excellent realtor, whom I highly recommend. We had a long wish list for an apartment in the Porto area. Susana listened carefully to our priorities and delivered the perfect apartment on the first try! She has gone above and beyond and handled the entire process remotely. We feel very fortunate to have met her. Check out our amazing view!
Working with Susana was absolutely fantastic. From the beginning, she understood what we were looking for and guided us. We live in the United States and were looking for property to use for vacation and investment. We decided on the first property she showed us, but many of the other properties would have met our needs. She gave us references to lawyers, banks, etc, and everyone was transparent and great to work with. Susana is flexible and accommodating. I would highly recommend her.
Worked with Susana to purchase an apartment overseas was an exceptional experience from start to finish. She was incredibly knowledgeable about the local market and every step of the international buying process, which made the entire transaction feel smooth and stress-free. Her professionalism stood out immediately — she was always quick to respond, whether it was answering detailed questions or providing necessary documentation. What really made the difference, though, was her thoughtful consultation and honest advice throughout. She didn’t just guide me through the process — she helped me make smart, informed decisions. I felt confident and supported every step of the way, and I couldn't have asked for a better realtor. Highly recommend her to anyone looking to buy property abroad.

Services in this field explained
A valuation estimates the price a property can achieve on the market, based on location, condition, size, fittings and comparable sales.
What does a valuation cost? Many agents offer an initial estimate free of charge. A formal market value report by a certified surveyor is paid; the fee depends on the property and effort.
When you sell, an agent handles valuation, exposé, viewings, negotiation and the notary appointment.
Who pays the agent's commission? When flats and single-family houses are sold to consumers, the commission is generally split between seller and buyer (§ 656c German Civil Code).
When letting, an agent takes care of listing, viewings, tenant selection and the tenancy agreement.
Who pays the agent when letting? Since 2015 the “orderer pays” principle applies to residential lettings: usually the landlord pays when they hired the agent.
