Editorial context
Working with a provider in San Francisco – what matters
When selecting a property manager in San Francisco, owners and HOA boards should first establish which tasks are actually included in the management agreement. For a provider with HSM's stated focus, ongoing property oversight, financial administration and board communication are particularly relevant. A detailed scope of services helps clients compare proposals and allocate responsibilities among the manager, the board and external vendors.
For regular walk-throughs and weekly property updates, useful questions concern scope, documentation and follow-up on identified maintenance issues. Advertised 24-hour emergency support should be accompanied by clear reporting procedures, defined responsibilities and information about possible additional charges. Availability alone does not establish how quickly a contractor can attend the property. Maintenance projects also benefit from clear procedures for obtaining bids, approving work and checking completed tasks.
On the financial side, prospective clients should discuss the contents of monthly reports, the handling of unpaid assessments and the coordination of budgets and reserves. Where an annual external financial review is offered, its scope and the documents made available should be clarified.
HSM's free budget review and property evaluation can provide a starting point for these discussions. They do not replace a review of the subsequent management proposal. The availability of a designated contact and support in the required language should also be confirmed explicitly. These points provide general guidance and are not legal advice.

The supplied Google data lists a rating of 4.9 out of 5 from 306 reviews. Chase Sethi at HSM Management is the kind of property manager contractors hope for: professional, responsive, and fast on approvals. He's been supportive through every installation, and his quick turnaround has kept our EV charger projects moving without delays and our customers happy. A pleasure to work with.
I've owned/managed commercial lighting efficiency companies for the past 18 years. I've worked with a lot of property management companies and HOAs. We have completed several projects with HSM PM and the experience as a vendor has been wonderful. They are quick to respond and are committed to doing the right thing for their HOAs. It sometimes can be challenging to motivate property managers - because doing an elective energy savings is great for the facility, but means extra work for the PMs. Not so with HSM. We have completed valuable LED upgrade projects at HOAs managed by HSM with Chase, Rajan, Rina, and Hao. They have all been great to work with and we look forward to partnering with HSM to continue delivering value to HOAs they manage. If you are an HOA looking to bring on a new HOA management firm - look no further.
I have been impressed with the improved quality of management our building has received under the care of our HOA manager Oscar Rosales. Especially notable is his responsiveness to the needs of the residents and his individualized follow-up on any concern. Another outstanding attribute has been Oscar's commitment to efficient, considerate communication. We receive prompt, respectful notices about matters that affect the residents well in advance so that we can prepare. As well, when services in our building are required, he is always on site supervising the people he arranges to perform them so that they are carried out well. My management experience with HSM has been smooth and dependable. I feel I can trust that my building is in good hands!
I’ve worked with many HOA management companies over the years, and Rina truly stands out. She was consistently responsive, professional, and proactive throughout the process. On multiple occasions, she went above and beyond to help resolve questions quickly and keep things moving smoothly. Her communication, attention to detail, and willingness to assist made a significant difference. It’s refreshing to work with someone who genuinely cares about providing excellent service. I would not hesitate to recommend Rina and greatly appreciate all of her hard work and support.
As a loan officer, I have to say that Chase and HSM Property Management have been exceptional to work with. They have been extremely responsive, professional, and proactive throughout the condo purchase process for my clients. Their communication, organization, and willingness has made a big difference in keeping everything moving smoothly and efficiently during escrow. It’s clear they truly care about the property and the homeowners in the community. The property itself is beautiful, and having such a responsive and well-managed team behind it gives buyers even more confidence in their purchase. Thank you again to Chase and the entire HSM Property Management team for all your help and professionalism throughout the process.
