Editorial context
Working with a provider in Wellington – what matters
When choosing a real estate provider in Wellington, first establish the service required: selling a property, finding a rental, ongoing management or short-stay letting. Comprendé lists these areas on its website. Having them available through one business does not remove the need to check what a particular appointment includes and who is responsible for delivering it.
Owners should request a written explanation of the management scope. Useful questions concern viewings and property inspections, maintenance requests, approval of repair costs and regular reporting. Because Comprendé describes dedicated property managers and an in-house field team, it is also worth clarifying how responsibilities are divided and who provides cover during absences. For short-stay arrangements, discuss the service scope, guest support and accounting separately.
For a sale, relevant comparison points include the responsible licensed agent, experience with comparable properties, the proposed marketing approach and all associated costs. Website statements about fees and cancellation should be checked against the actual agreement, including any conditions and additional charges.
Prospective tenants can ask about viewing arrangements, required documents and their contact person during the tenancy. The selected reviews offer indications about communication and support, but do not replace independent checks. They mainly reflect the tenant perspective and provide only limited insight into sales instructions or financial reporting for owners.

Tegan O’Connor, Inspections & Letting Specialist at Comprendé, has been helping me find a new home in Wellington, and the experience has been excellent. Tegan’s approach is professional, friendly, and genuinely supportive. She has a positive, can-do attitude, and nothing ever seems to be too much trouble. She is approachable and made the process a lot less stressful. What I appreciate most is that Tegan follows through on what she says she will do. She communicates clearly, keeps her commitments, and is proactive throughout the process. I would highly recommend Tegan to anyone looking for a property professional who is knowledgeable, responsive, and truly cares about delivering a great experience.
As a long term renter, I've engaged with many property managers across NZ and Queensland. In all honesty, Comprende are the best I've dealt with - great systems, great people and they get things done. Cannot recommend highly enough. Particular mention to Emma (initial contact, property viewings) and Angela (who makes everything work so well once you sign up). Cant praise high enough. And a genuine thank you too.
We were with Comprende for around two years and honestly wish we could have stayed longer. Charmaine was a fantastic property manager, and any maintenance issues we had were dealt with promptly and efficiently. Flat inspections were always smooth, and the person who carried them out was friendly and easy to deal with. As tenants in a flatting situation, we really valued having a reliable property management team, and I’d highly recommend them. Hopefully we’ll have the chance to work with this team again in the future! Additionally, we had an awesome landlord :)
I had such an amazing experience with Comprende, especially with Hannah Penman, that I genuinely felt the need to leave a review. From the very beginning, Hannah made me feel comfortable and welcomed throughout the entire viewing process. Her communication was incredible — she was engaging, approachable, and so quick to answer every question I had. Nothing ever felt like too much trouble for her. What really stood out to me was how proactive she was. While showing me one apartment, she mentioned another unit in the same building and offered to show me that as well because she felt it might actually suit me better — and honestly, she was right. I really appreciated her taking the time to give me that opportunity and all the information I needed to compare both options properly. On top of that, I ended up not being able to make it to my second viewing due to being tight on time. Instead
I'm really impressed with Comprende. Emma has gone the extra mile for me so that I could view and find the best property at the right cost, that fits my situation. She is accommodating, especially since I am not able to view in person at the moment. The team as a whole is a pleasure to work with and everyone has been helpful and friendly. Thanks Emma, and thank you to the team as well.

Services in this field explained
A valuation estimates the price a property can achieve on the market, based on location, condition, size, fittings and comparable sales.
What does a valuation cost? Many agents offer an initial estimate free of charge. A formal market value report by a certified surveyor is paid; the fee depends on the property and effort.
When you sell, an agent handles valuation, exposé, viewings, negotiation and the notary appointment.
Who pays the agent's commission? When flats and single-family houses are sold to consumers, the commission is generally split between seller and buyer (§ 656c German Civil Code).
When letting, an agent takes care of listing, viewings, tenant selection and the tenancy agreement.
Who pays the agent when letting? Since 2015 the “orderer pays” principle applies to residential lettings: usually the landlord pays when they hired the agent.
