Editorial context
Working with a provider in Chicago – what matters
When choosing a real estate agent in Chicago, clients should examine experience with the specific neighborhood and property type. For a provider focused on the South Loop, useful questions include how pricing recommendations are developed and which comparable listings or sales support them. Prospective clients can ask how the property, market, and competing-listing analyses mentioned on the website are structured and how current the underlying data is.
For condominium purchases, the review should extend beyond the purchase price to recurring association charges, available association documents, and potential additional financial obligations. For multifamily properties, existing tenancies, operating expenses, and building condition are important considerations. Assessments by suitable independent professionals can complement the agent’s support.
Out-of-town buyers should agree on the scope of virtual viewings in advance, including which building areas will be shown and how visible defects will be documented. An online viewing does not replace a technical property inspection.
Sellers considering staging coordination should clarify responsibilities, costs, and the proposed marketing process. Both buyers and sellers benefit from clear agreements on fees, services, points of contact, and communication. Google reviews may offer insight into working methods and client support, but they do not establish that a particular outcome will be achieved. These considerations provide general guidance, not legal advice.

We can’t recommend Tom Campone and his team highly enough! This is the second home we’ve purchased with Tom, and once again he exceeded every expectation. We also have numerous friends and family members who have worked with him, and everyone has had the same outstanding experience. Tom is incredibly knowledgeable, responsive, and organized. He stays on top of every detail and walks you through what can otherwise be a stressful and overwhelming process. Beyond that, he has an outstanding network of professionals, which made every step of our purchase go as smoothly as possible. We spent a year and a half searching for the right multi-family home in Chicago, and Tom was patient, supportive, and never pressured us to settle. He understood exactly what we were looking for and helped us find the perfect property. If you’re looking for a realtor who truly advocates for his clients, knows t
We were looking for a Chicago condo but we’re based in Atlanta so distance was an issue with regard to viewings. Tom arranged a virtual viewing of a unit in which we were interested. During the live online viewing, he went through the place like he was looking to buy the unit himself. He identified items to consider and patiently went through views and close-ups that we requested. He even went out to the balcony as a storm moved in. Ultimately, we were comfortable enough to make an offer without being there in person. We later did come through with Tom for the home inspection and bought the unit. Tom helped make the process smooth and comfortable. As an aside, Tom’s Head of Operations, Patty Sanchez, was also especially helpful in keeping the docs and myriads of info flowing. Overall a great experience with a great team.
We had a positive experience using Tom and his assistant to find our first home in Lakeview. We first engaged Tom in February 2026 during an ultra-competitive buying season in the neighborhoods we were looking. The biggest value-add Tom provides is his emphasis on hyper-local knowledge of the Chicago market. I was appreciative of his candor when judging how much we should pay for a property, when to escalate, what to go to the mat for, and what to walk away from. I also appreciated the fact that he was always available for ad-hoc calls and questions, especially at later hours and weekends. Despite a few wrinkles in the search, we landed a home we really liked, and had smooth sailing during closing.
Mr. Tom Campone is truly the most dedicated and knowledgable Broker in Chicago , I live in Hawaii and needed to sell my parents home jointly with my brother. Tom and his team made the entire process seamless. He was very professional and responsive and handled every detail with care . He is a dedicated Broker who goes beyond expectation for his client and understands the feelings and need of guidance throughout the process. He brings a "Personal Touch " that eases the multiple steps and the Team he has working with him such as assistants, attorney, notary all reflect the professionalism and kindness toward the client as if they were family. I am truly honored to have had Tom as our Broker and would highly recommend him. Orianna Skomoroch
Looking for a great realtor in the South Loop? We highly recommend Tom Campone. Working with him is an absolute pleasure. Tom helped us to find a buyer for our South Loop condo in just 10 days. Tom was professional, kind, knowledgeable and dedicated to keeping our best interests in mind, from start to finish. A valuation estimates the price a property can achieve on the market, based on location, condition, size, fittings and comparable sales.
What does a valuation cost? Many agents offer an initial estimate free of charge. A formal market value report by a certified surveyor is paid; the fee depends on the property and effort.
When you sell, an agent handles valuation, exposé, viewings, negotiation and the notary appointment.
Who pays the agent's commission? When flats and single-family houses are sold to consumers, the commission is generally split between seller and buyer (§ 656c German Civil Code).
When letting, an agent takes care of listing, viewings, tenant selection and the tenancy agreement.
Who pays the agent when letting? Since 2015 the “orderer pays” principle applies to residential lettings: usually the landlord pays when they hired the agent.
