Editorial context
Working with a provider in New York – what matters
When choosing a service provider for a property investment in New York, it is important to distinguish between acquisition, investment advice, brokerage and ongoing management. R.E.M. Residential’s documented focus is the operation of existing properties. Prospective clients should therefore establish whether they need assistance with a purchase or a manager for a property they already own. Services beyond the described management offering should be confirmed directly.
For multifamily rental buildings, responsibilities for leasing, resident communication, repairs and monitoring rental income should be clear. For co-ops and condominiums, owners and boards should also clarify board coordination, reporting arrangements and expenditure approvals. For retail and office premises, the scope of leasing, tenant management and build-out coordination should be documented separately.
Before appointing a manager, owners should request a written proposal covering services and fees. It should explain routine property visits, response times, emergency procedures, additional charges and the involvement of external contractors. Sample reports can help demonstrate how income, expenses and outstanding work are presented.
Because R.E.M. Residential also lists regulatory support and environmental reporting, clients should establish the specific tasks included and the limits of responsibility. International owners should additionally review communication arrangements, access to digital information and approval processes. Reviews provide supplementary perspectives but do not replace property-specific references or a review of the contractual scope. These considerations are general guidance, not legal advice.

I had an excellent experience working with Mersiha and highly recommend her to anyone looking for a real estate professional. She was knowledgeable, responsive, and efficient throughout the entire process. She understood what I was looking for, communicated clearly, and helped me secure an apartment quickly and at a great price. Mersiha made the entire experience smooth and stress-free, and I truly appreciated her professionalism and dedication. REM is also a great company, and it was a pleasure working with their team. I would definitely recommend Mersiha and REM to anyone searching for an apartment or looking for professional real estate services.
I have known and worked alongside REM for almost 10 years, and what stands out most is the balance they strike: big enough to handle the most complex buildings and stay on top of all the NYC regulatory requirements, but small enough that it still feels personal. Rick and Shpresa set a tone at the top that's positive, inclusive, professional, and genuine, and it shows throughout the team. Everyone seems to take real pride and ownership in their work, and they do their best to stay responsive even with the constant stream of requests that comes with managing buildings in this city. They've also invested in modern property management software and solid internal communication, which has made a noticeable difference in how quickly things get addressed. What I appreciate is that REM is always looking to improve and genuinely listen to feedback from owners, residents and partners. After a deca
I cannot say enough great things about R.E.M.! I moved into one of their buildings from out of state three years ago and haven’t left since. They made my move so stress free and have always been unbelievably helpful and communicative. The building is incredibly clean and any fixes or questions that do arise are always dealt with quickly. The entire team is friendly and helpful and I genuinely feel so lucky that they are the management team behind the building I live in!
I’ve had a very positive experience with REM Residential. The company has a professional, caring, and dedicated team that truly goes above and beyond to provide quality service and support. I’d especially like to recognize the management team. They are approachable, respectful, responsive, and genuinely seem to care about the people they work with. Their leadership and commitment make a real difference, and it’s clear that they take pride in what they do.
I’ve recently moved into a beautiful apartment run by R.E.M. Management, and they have been fantastic! They have helped with all repair requests quickly and efficiently from windows, electricians, new locks and regrouting. The apartment is pre-war and with beauty comes the need of extra love. They additionally remodeled the kitchen with new appliances, sink and cabinets all while respecting the design of this special era. As an interior designer and lover of historic NYC architecture, I truly appreciate their dedication and honor to preserving. Grateful to have a place with such wonderful hands-on management.
